Rain or shine, a new baseball and fastpitch indoor facility is allowing players to practice all year ’round.
A red ribbon to officially open the facility was cut by White Rock’s mayor on Sunday (April 12), marking the opening of Centennial Cages at Centennial Park.
Centennial Cages has been a project in the works for six years and, with the help of many volunteers, is now open for White Rock South Surrey Baseball Association (WRSSBA) and White Rock Renegades fastpitch teams.

“The Centennial Cages represent years of hard work and collaboration, and a shared commitment to giving our young athletes a space to train, grow and thrive rain or shine,”
said event coordinator for White Rock South Surrey Baseball Association Gabe Embley. As Embley shared, the indoor facility will now allow baseball and fastpitch teams to practice all year ’round instead of just during
the sunnier months of the year.
“Championships aren’t won on the field on the day of the win. They’re won in the practice facility in October, November and December,”
said Renegades Sports Association president Greg Timm.
The project was originally started by the White Rock South Surrey Baseball Association, but as the project continued to form, the teams realized they may need outside help.
