Located in West Vancouver with a spectacular vantage of Vancouver to the south, Hollyburn is one of Canada’s most well regarded private clubs. For its members, it offers 25 tennis courts, 7 squash courts, 2 swimming pools, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, 3 ice sheets, 7 badminton courts, a wellness centre, childminding, first-class dining and more. The club caters to the modern family and its demanding lifestyle and hosts the annual Odlum Brown VanOpen Tennis event on its premises every summer.
Since its inception in the 1950s, the club has undergone numerous expansions and renovations to its facilities and services. The recent capital program envisions a number of potential enhancements which could include the expansion of its food & beverage services, outdoor gathering areas, child-minding facilities, a new youth centre, operational support facilities, its on-site parking complement, a banquet hall and a new grand entrance.
Our team worked with Hollyburn staff, SSDG and Westmount Consulting to develop a comprehensive master plan to achieve its goals. The arrangement of the expanded facility was organized to allow for both incremental growth of the expanded program as well as a phased construction schedule. The latter would allow for the series of renovations and additions to take place through a staggered construction period without adversely affecting services for the members. Through careful consideration of the existing club and its assets, this long-range plan respectfully forms an extension to the existing architecture and creates a vibrant new interior environment for the next generations of its membership.
